Thailand | Bangkok, Ayutthaya, and Floating Markets

I traveled around Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, and some nearby tourist destinations.

Bangkok was far more modern than I had expected, with skyscrapers, large shopping malls, and well-developed transportation systems such as the MRT and BTS.
At the same time, temples and Buddha statues can be found all throughout the city, giving a strong sense of Thailand’s Buddhist culture.

I was especially impressed by how modern cityscapes and traditional culture coexist so naturally.

Basic Information

Thailand is relatively safe, but it is still important to take the usual precautions when traveling abroad.

Tipping culture exists, but even without tipping, many people responded with warm smiles. I could truly understand why Thailand is called “The Land of Smiles.”

Credit cards are accepted in many places, but some convenience stores may have conditions such as “minimum purchase of 200 baht required for card payment.”
Cash is convenient at street food stalls and local restaurants.

Currency exchange rates also seemed better locally than at Japanese airports.

English is spoken in many places.

The local currency is the Thai Baht.

This trip mainly focused on the Bangkok area, but Thailand has many other attractive tourist destinations as well.
